Learn more about the surface

The implants in this series are designed for installation in the anterior region when the alveolar ridge is narrow. For greater stability, a double-lead coarse aggressive thread is cut into the main body of the implant, and a fine six-lead thread is cut at the top of the implant.

An essential foundation for long-term preservation of aesthetic appearance and functional qualities is maintaining healthy bone and soft tissue around the implant. Refining the surface topography of an implant provides better interaction along the surfaces of the bone and the implant. This interaction leads to biological reactions that have a favourable effect on bone-implant interaction.

On the main body of the implant there is an aggressive double-lead coarse thread with a large pitch, which makes it possible, first, to install the implant on the self-tapping principle, i.e. without using a tap for threading; second, the double lead improves positioning accuracy during installation; third, the geometry of the coarse thread and special cutting blades in the apical portion of the implant enables, if necessary, adjusting the direction of the implant without violating the initial stabilization; and fourth, coarse thread seals the bone tissue around the implant.

To improve implant insertion and stimulate the marginal bone, the upper part has a six-lead micro-thread, which is very important and is optimally combined with a coarse thread, ensuring that the bone around the upper part of the implant is preserved. This thread ensures optimal load distribution and a lower stress level.

The most vulnerable element in existing structures of this kind is where the implant and the abutment interface. Because the implant is small in diameter, the insertion screw diameter is in the range of 1.4-1.6 mm, which is clearly insufficient for firmly fixing the abutment to the implant. As a result, fracture during the life of the prosthesis is not uncommon. The proposed structure is able to maintain a locking screw diameter of 1.8 mm, similar to the screw employed in two-stage implants, diameter 3.5 mm and up, which considerably reduces the risk of the screw breaking at the interface.

The surgical procedure to insert a Small Series implant is the same as the usual two-step implantation protocol except that after the implant, the screw-cap also serves as the healing abutment, while the retaining screw that holds the cover screw can then be used at the orthopaedic stage to attach the abutment to the implant.
